Ken Jennings surged to a substantial lead during the Double Jeopardy round of man vs. machine, but could not hold off Watson’s quick-draw clicker as the round wound down. Watson again won the 2nd game by a smaller margin than the first, but still took home the match’s $1M prize, which IBM donated to charity.

Jennings and Rutter both managed to beat Watson buzzing in – more often than in game 1. I wrote about Watson’s hard-wired buzz-in advantage over the humans, here. How Jennings managed to buzz in first more often today, we’ll have to wait until an interview with him to learn. I suppose he tried to adapt, buzzing even earlier. But however he did it, for a stretch Jennings looked like his old 74-game win streak self … when we called him a machine.
